OUR NONPROFIT VISION

Next project is to build a Restore Room
This week I met with a few ladies who are interested in supporting Elegantees on the nonprofit side of things (when we get our 501c3 status, that is!). The conversations were interesting, so I'll share more about them.
THE RESTORE ROOM
One thing the nonprofit will build is a Restore Room to better support survivors in their journey to a dignified and independent life. We are kind of doing this right now at our sewing center, but we can do it significantly better with more time if the official employment doesn't start on day one.
Building the Restore Room will best provide the holistic care we desire to give. Currently, we are completely reliant on how many shirts we sell, so we can't do as much. Yet, we desire to do more with the spiritual and emotional healing, education, and skills training.
I'm feeling hopeful after the conversations this past week. When I shared the vision for the Restore Room, it really resonated as something worthy to support financially.
THE FIGHT FOR JOBS
Taking steps toward building the Restore Room in Nepal will motivate me to increase the demand for our products. We'll be partnering with more survivors, so there'll be a need for more jobs. Not just any job, but one with a sense of community and value, and a dignified one that breaks the cycle of poverty too!
I want Elegantees to have the demand and the budget to offer more survivors a job by next year. I am still thinking that getting an office space here in New York will be a game changer for our marketing reach. Interns will come, and the physical togetherness gets things done like never before. I only want to move forward with the office space though if it's cost-free to us for a year. It might be a whole year until the office pays off, and I don't have peace about funding it by going into debt. This need is something harder to ask for donations though, so it's something I'm still praying about.
IN NEPAL NEXT WEEK!
Next Friday, I'll start sharing about our visit to Nepal. Michele is on our nonprofit board, and she will be there! Lot of exciting things ahead… Overall, I am very thankful for the opportunity to wake up each day and know we can do something to help survivors. What a joy it is to know you're in this too!
