NEXT STEPS TO THE RESTORE ROOM

We're counting down the days until our trip to Nepal. Then....

Expedia updated me saying they cancelled our flight to India! They kindly rebooked us for another route and set of connections to get us to Nepal, but the routes are all over the place. Not to be dramatic, but I really don't want to take extra flights, and have it take almost an extra day.

TESTED

I was on the phone with Expedia last weekend trying to fix it. It's still in progress. I'm not going to give up on getting a more favorable flight for us.
If a better flight isn't possible, I still want to go. I am remembering the reasons we are going in the first place. What seems like a major inconvenience should be worth it right? My answer depends on what day you ask me, haha. Lord, help my heart to be humble!

IT'S TIME

We are now able to accept tax-deductible donations through a fiscal sponsor. Our project is called Sewn To Restore, which was a name we chose based on a tagline for Elegantees many years ago. We will literally be sewing, but also sowing into hearts seeds of encouragement, truth and salvation.
With this timing, getting to Nepal sooner than later is important! Part of our trip will be going there to connect with organizations and missionaries to see how and how likely we will set up our Restore Room.

RESTORE ROOM

The Restore Room is the holistic branch of Elegantees that we want to get better at. It's all about better preparing and placing survivors into dignified jobs in order to break the cycle of poverty.
The primary challenge we have faced with it is financial. I have been wanting Elegantees to be crazy successful so we can do this, but the reality is fundraising is needed to cover what Elegantees cannot. Soon we will seek out donations to help fund and multiply our endeavor.
We hope you're excited about this with us. It will take many people contributing to make this door open. I'll tell you about it now to help you look forward to our trip to Nepal with us. I'm hoping for many to catch onto our vision for the ministry too!
The action steps of Sewn To Restore:
  • Raise awareness and combat in the area of human trafficking. Our primary awareness focus is labor trafficking within the fashion industry.
  • Aid women survivors who have been affected directly, or are at risk, of human trafficking. They are considered 'clients' in our program.
  • Building and managing a life skills center, called the Restore Room. Our clients will be provided with life, educational, and vocational training in trade skills such as sewing garments. Clients will complete our program in 9-12 months, cost-free to them.
  • At graduation, we will make them aware of specific employment opportunities, or they can choose to look for opportunities on their own. Any job offers we present will be with employers who offer fair wages and fair working hours. Elegantees will probably be the primary employer.
Our long term vision is to plant Restore Rooms around the world in countries where labor trafficking is prominent. I'm so excited that the next step in this dream is coming!

UPDATE ON THE REELS

Last weekend, I did a 4-part series on our Instagram page to try on and talk through the newest designs. I'd love for you to watch these short reels and support by liking and commenting. Click on the images above and below to get directly to each video.

There are subtitles so you don't need sound to watch!

Creating the videos was a lot of fun, and it was a joy to connect with everyone on social media while they were being circulated.  We're going to try to do them again next time, and a live "show" is on the radar too.

COUNTDOWN TO NEPAL

We're looking forward to being in Nepal! We'll arrive mid-June.
