Last weekend, these customers came to NYC to connect! I am blessed to know these and other wise women like them, who pour into me and Elegantees.
I'm still getting the hang of how to be an effective leader. Since the interns came, I've been in delegate mode every minute in the loft. Skipped lunch often because interns line up for questions. I love seeing their passion, but the style of leading I had going on isn't sustainable for anyone.
When Friday came, my rescue crew arrived. Karina and Caecilia were the first of a group of customers who came into NYC to spend the weekend at the loft. Karina asked to sweep me away for lunch, and I knew I needed to say yes. The interns seemed surprised that their supervisor was ditching them, but they did good. They directed a shoot all on their own. When I came back, they were hanging out and laughing. I know it was all for the better!
AN IRL WEEKEND
Being with all the ladies in real life was refreshing. It was cold in New York, so we were in the loft to stay warm. Uplifting conversations, new inside jokes, and since I successfully convinced them to model, we did a shoot!
I especially value the wisdom given to me by everyone. From them, I learned a lot about how to better lead the interns. The supervisor to intern ratio is 1:10 on some days, but their ideas already are helping make it better for everyone.
If you're thinking about visit New York City by the way, know that we would LOVE to see you! On weekdays, the loft is always open for visitors ;-)
MEANWHILE IN NEPAL...
The team just finished sewing our next collection of polished pieces. My personal favorite is a ¾ sleeve blazer that can be worn over any tee shirt and jeans for instant professionalism. The Emory coatigan though (pictured above) has the most stitching of them all. The hood is removable! I'm very impressed with how much the skills at the sewing center are growing.
If you are interested in some of these investment pieces I explained, let it soak first before you see the launch. Prices are going to be higher for these types of styles. The fabric is thicker, quantities are limited, and the sewing is a slower process. We're not raising prices overall though.
As we launch the next collection next week, we'll be doing a buy one get one free on the site as well for older collections. This will make it a little easier to support if you don't have a need for the new designs or if you're hoping to find something for your budget.
Love,
Katie
