HOPING, WHILE BROKEN

Even if it's just one person to be freed from human trafficking and find total freedom, it's the work we're called to!

When I reflect on the hurt going on in the world, I grieve because I feel completely helpless to help those who need rescuing. Can we just stand there and watch it happen?

HOPE IN THE SCROLL

The song that is bringing me hope this week is “Is Anyone Worthy” by Chris Tomlin. The lyrics reflect the heaviness felt on my heart:
Do you feel the world is broken?
Do you feel the shadows deepen?
But do you know that all the dark won't
Stop the light from getting through?
Do you wish that you could see it all made new?
If you decide to listen to the whole song, it talks about a scroll that needs to be opened first before the entire whole world can heal from all the wrongs. In the last book of the Bible, we're told that the only one who can open this scroll is Jesus. I have hope for the world because I believe this will happen. Maybe not in my lifetime, but I know our eternal future will end with all things made new.

UNTIL THEN?

I am not supposed to just wait and do nothing until the scroll is opened. We're called to work, plant, and trust there will be a harvest. Despite the darkness we feel in this world, we'll choose to rejoice for the victories over evil. We do the work we're called to! When thinking of the entire weight of the world's hurts, what we do at Elegantees feels so insignificant. To one seamstress though, it means more than we could possibly imagine.
I hope that in the midst of whatever you're feeling too, you'll find the hope that all things will be made new. Also, may you be encouraged to know that we cannot heal the entire world, but what we can help heal is worthy of joy.
