FIRST WEEK IN THE OFFICE

We had our first three days in the office space without internet. So we painted photo shoot props, built furniture, and steamed garments. We all got to know each other more through it. The slower pace was lovely, and friendships are just starting to happen. I am glad to report though that the internet is finally up as of last night, so we'll open our laptops today!

Estela (marketing intern) modeled for our first shoot in the office yesterday. She's wearing a waffle knit cardigan that's coming in October.

RUNWAY SHOW

Since we are all so enthusiastic, we're going to do something crazy. A spontaneous runway show is happening next Friday! New York Fashion Week is starting up and we want to mark our homecoming with speeches and celebration. We texted our model friends to see if they will do this with us, and many are available. So here we go!!! This live gathering and showcase of the designs will be in the loft section of our office.
The seats will be very limited, but if are a local to NYC and want to attend it, please email me here. You'd need to arrive at 4pm on Friday 9/12.
For everyone outside of NYC, we would LOVE for you to join us by watching it all live on Instagram. I will send out another email next Friday to remind you, but save the date. We will debut the show from the @elegantees account at 5 pm EST.

THE OPTIMISM

I love that we all started with a mutual spirit of gratitude. Many are in their second year of fashion college and this is their first hands on exposure to the real industry.
The interns are also optimistic that Elegantees is going to grow a lot in the next 12 months. I need to be surrounded by that belief. They are unfamiliar to the real challenges going on behind the scenes, but that's a good thing. I want to see them having fun, being creative, and keeping that optimism at the forefront. That positive spirit will draw new customers, which is what we need to make it.
Despite not having internet the first three days, it was a successful start to our week. I haven't asked for permission to share stories yet, but incredible things are happening. Our office is a place where hope is arising.
Thankful,
Katie
