HELPING IN NEPAL

The aftermath of the mudslides

A few weeks ago, a mudslide devastated a region of Nepal. It was far from our sewing center in Kathmandu. However, one of our seamstresses is from there. She went back to help, and shared this with us:
My village is deeply affected by this tragedy. We really need your prayers. Please continue to pray for us. We have also been fasting and praying continuously. Many churches have been swept away by the flood, and people are still grieving and in deep sorrow. Many children are left without their parents.
Many people have lost their homes, land, money, and all their belongings. Some have even lost their families. This is the situation in my village.
Please keep praying for us.
She says she is with a small church, and from there, they have been helping the flood victims as much as possible.

OUR RESPONSE

Sometimes you hear about how charitable donations and government relief go through so many hands. Then by the time it gets to the people who need it, a small percentage of the donation gets to the people the funds were meant for.
Not the case here. A few Elegantees supporters privately came up with donations to send. It was such a joy to directly help these people.

This photo was sent by our seamstress. Not sure what the names represent, but I've seen photos like this before in the area of human trafficking in Nepal. Whatever these names represent, these are the names from just one village. It is something to grieve over.

It makes it seem like what we did was so small when the need was so big. But to the few people it impacted, it was a yes to their prayers. Deep gratitude was given to us. It was real, tangible, and a blessing.

Knowing we can tangibly help others in need has been making the flame in my heart for the vulnerable and trafficking.

GOING TO NEPAL

Our trip to Nepal is in two months. We'll get the opportunity to meet more people who are on the ground faithfully serving, and connect with other orgs that are fighting human trafficking.

I believe that beautiful and redemptive things will be built up soon. So grateful to be a part of this.

MEANWHILE IN NYC

We've been working to grow in business opportunities. The supervisor on our team, and our interns that I'm working with, are such a huge help! Behind the scenes, we're doing a lot at a pace I could never do on my own (especially that I'm also homeschooling this year)!
With joy, Katie
